Situated in Jammu's Kishtwar district, Gauri Shankar Temple holds great cultural and historical significance. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, also known as Shankar and Gauri, are honored in this old temple. Attracting both pilgrims and tourists, the temple is a testament to the rich spiritual heritage of the area. The Gauri Shankar Mandir is the oldest Hindu temple situated in the Kishtwar region. The temple plays a pivotal role in the history of the area. Another name for this temple is Sarkoot-Mandir. Because of the outstanding ancient architecture, this temple has a very aesthetically pleasing appearance. It is possible to find idols of many Gods and Goddesses, including Maa Sita, Shri Laxman Ji, Shri Hanuman Ji, Maa Durga, Shri Ganesh, and Shri Dharamraj, in addition to Shiv Parvati. On the grounds of the temple are also shiv lings of various sizes that are thought to have been built at various points in history. The Samadhi (tomb) of Saint Shri Tulsi Giri Ji Maharaj and a sizable Hom-Kund are located to the left of this temple. Sarkoot Dal, a charming little lake in front of the temple, adds an intriguing charm to the location. Immediately next to the temple is a lovely park where visitors can take a seat, unwind, and take in the surrounding scenery. At the temple location, processions are held on the holy days of Janam Ashtami. The temple is well-known throughout the nation, and pilgrims visit it year-round from all over the world.
