The quaint village of Gaurikund is located in Jammu's Udhampur district, resting in stunning scenery. It is a sacred location. Many devotees throng the Gaurikund temple, which honours Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati, to offer their daily prayers. Every year, during the three days of the June festival, a lot of pilgrims travel to Gaurikund to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as Uma and Shankar. There is also a special fair held during this festival. During the festival, pilgrims bathe in the Dewaki River before coming to this temple to engage in "Pooja," or worship. Following their homage to Shiva and Parvati here, the devotees proceed to Patnitop's other attractions, Gaukaran and Papnashi Bowli. To get to the revered Goddess Parvati temple at Gaurikund, hikers must ascend steep slopes for approximately a kilometre. The Charnavati stream, locally known as Gaurikund Devika, flows next to the temple and provides clean water. Situated at the foot of Shivgarh Mount, the temple offers a mesmerising view during the monsoon season and snowfall during the winter. Two Chinar trees highlight the natural beauty and spiritual atmosphere of Gaurikund, which are utterly captivating. According to legend, Goddess Parvati took a bath in this kund and, because of its small entrance, meditated in a nearby cave known as Garbhjoon. In addition to its religious significance, Gaurikund is an adventurer's paradise. Hiking and trekking in the nearby mountains provide fantastic opportunities for visitors to experience the unadulterated beauty of the Himalayas.
