Situated in Jammu's Poonch district, the Noori Chamb Waterfall is a breathtaking sight to behold. This magnificent natural wonder attracts tourists from all over the world with its gushing waters and verdant surroundings. "Noor's waterfall" is the translation of Noori Chamb. The local legend states that the Mughal Emperor Jehangir named the place Noori Aabshar in honour of his Queen Noor Jehan because he was so taken by its beauty. And the name became well-known as "Noori Chamb" in the regional vernacular. It is thought that the Queen bathed in the pure waters whenever she travelled to the state, and she had a royal mirror set up next to the waterfall so she could see the same scene from her tent—of which today only the frame is left. After witnessing the breathtaking splendour, Emperor Jehangir set up camp next to this picturesque waterfall. The public was not allowed to go anywhere near the waters where the King and Queen spent their afternoons. The waterfall, which used to drop from a height of about 75 feet, is breathtaking to see. Because Noori Chamb Waterfall is located at an elevation of 3480 meters, a large number of tourists visit the site to escape the oppressive heat in the plains. It is about 45 kilometres from Poonch, in the middle of the Behramgala and Chandimarh regions, along the Mughal Road. The waterfall is a soothing haven for the spirit as well as a visual delight. Its calming waters and serene atmosphere offer the ideal get-away from the bustle of the city. Taking a leisurely stroll around the area allows visitors to enjoy the distinctive rock formations as well as the varied flora and fauna that call this place home. A soothing and revitalizing natural symphony is produced by the sound of the rushing water.
