Situated on the bank of Drungali Nallah and nestled in the shade of a picturesque hill is Gurudwara Nangali Sahib. It is among the Sikhs' oldest shrines in Northern India. The main Gurdwara building, a free community kitchen called Guru ka Langar, and roughly 70 guest rooms make up the Gurudwara complex as it stands today. Every year, countless devotees from all over the nation and the globe come to this shrine in large numbers. The fourth successor of Bhai Pheru Singh ji, Thakur Bhai Mela Singh ji, founded the Gurdwara in 1803. In 1814, Maharaja Ranjit Singh paid a visit to Gurudwara Nangali Sahib. He was so impressed with the Gurdwara that he gave the Gurudwara sahib a jagir, or estate, to generate income. Twenty years later, in 1823, the Maharaja added a jagir consisting of four villages to the Gurudwara sahib's estate. After the original Gurudwara was destroyed by fire in 1947 as a result of attacks by Pakistan-backed mountain tribes, Mahant Bachitar Singh ji oversaw the reconstruction of the Gurdwara through donations and sewa (service) from the local Sangat. The centre of Sikhism in the state of Jammu and Kashmir continues to be this Gurudwara. Travellers are offered a 24-hour rest house called a serai and a langar, irrespective of their caste, religion, or creed. Even though a sizable gathering is held on Sundays, this shrine is visited by people every day. Every weekend (Sunday) there is a special diwan (congregation) in addition to the daily ceremonies. There are a lot of Poonch residents in the congregation. Every year on the eve of Baisakhi, the Gurudwara Sahib hosts a massive event. The daylong Baisakhi celebration is attended by a sizable number of devotees from Jammu and Kashmir in particular as well as from all over the world in general.
