Tucked away in Jammu's scenic Kathua district, the Mata Chanchlo Devi Shrine is a reminder of centuries of faith and devotion. Devotees who come here in droves to seek comfort and blessings have a special place in their hearts for this hallowed location. Regardless of religion, faith, or belief, the entire local population, not just the residents of Basohli town, worships Mata Chanchlo, Devi, who is an embodiment of mata Sharda, as kuldevi. The Mata Chanchlo Devi shrine is located atop an ancient fort that King Bhoopat Pal constructed in the middle of the seventeenth century. The fort, which is home to the goddess Chanchlo Devi's temple, is perched atop the highest hill among the hillocks within a 5-kilometre radius. A 3.5-kilometer black top road that is weather-resistant connects the fort to the town of Basohli. Not only does the local population of Basohli worship Mata Chanchlo Devi, but so do the residents of the nearby villages in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Every day, hundreds of devotees from within and the surrounding states flock to the sacred shrine of Mata Chanchlo to pay their respects. Every year during the Navratra festivals, thousands of devotees swarm the sacred shrine. The surrounding area provides plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring the rough terrain for those who enjoy adventure. The region's varied flora and fauna will appeal to those who enjoy the outdoors. An experience full of history, culture, and tranquillity awaits you when you visit the Mata Chanchlo Devi Shrine, regardless of whether you're looking for spiritual solace or just want to take in the beauty of nature.
