Achabal is perhaps one of the most breathtaking destinations of Kashmir. Located at an elevation of 1936 meters, the place is approximately 9 km away from Anantnag city. Further, Achabal is at a distance of 67 kms from Srinagar and 46 kms from Pahalgam. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is known for the enchanting natural spring and the Mughal Garden built around 1620 A.D. Under the reign of Mughal ruler, Jehangir. It is believed that in ancient times, this place was also called Akkshavala and it was a sacred destination for the Hindus. The natural cascading spring which flows out from Sosanwar hill, is surrounded by wood-covered mountain ranges. Brengi Nallah is believed to be the source of Achabal Spring. The water of this spring which flows through this garden in three channels, is beautifying and ornamenting this terraced garden beyond imagination. Rows of majestic Chinar trees offer captivating views of the garden. The stepped terraces, fountains, waterfalls, sparkling shrubs and flowers add to the beauty of the Garden.
