Mattan Temple

Mattan temple is dedicated to Sun God and holds great significance for Kashmiri Pandits. The beauty of the place lies in the Shiva Lingam surrounded by a brick structure. One can also find a crystal-clear pond with plenty of fish hustling in the serene water. One can find devotees feeding these fish. It was also the place where people used to do pind dhan of their ancestors. Pind dhan is an important ritual in Hindu traditions. It is believed that it offers solace to the departed souls and free them from materialistic attachments.

• Travel Tips: Visit the temple, take a holy dip in the water, feed the fish in the pond. One can also visit the gurudwara which is adjacent to Martand Temple.
