Tucked away in the charming Udhampur area of Jammu is the tranquil town of Mantalai, an undiscovered treasure. Mantalai is more than just a location; it's a historical and culturally rich journey through time. It's well-known for the Mantalai Temple, which honours Lord Shiva, and is situated close to Mantalai Lake. At 1,450 metres high and encircled by deodar trees, Mantalai Temple provides visitors with a tranquil setting. At the shrine is a small idol of Goddess Parvati in the form of a kanya, or little girl. It is thought that this is where Goddess Parvati was born and where she wed Lord Shiva. It's said that a heavenly rock represents their marriage. The Mantalai Lake is close to the ancient Shiva temple, Aparneswar. Along with the main Shivaling idol, there are two sets of idols here: Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha. The Aparna Ashram, founded by the late Swami Dharinder Brahmachari, is another reason for Mantalai's fame. The ashram features hotels, guest houses, a helipad, gardens, a research lab for yoga, swimming pools, and movie theatres. Additionally, the government built a public international yoga centre in Mantalai. The place has also become famous because of India’s biggest International Yoga Centre which has been established at Mantalai. In addition to its spiritual importance, Mantalai is a paradise for those who love the outdoors. It provides a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life because it is surrounded by verdant vegetation and serene scenery. Immerse yourself in the ethereal beauty of the pristine Mantalai Lake, which shimmers like a jewel amidst verdant valleys. There is plenty in Mantalai for those who are itching for adventure. Hiking enthusiasts can explore thrilling trails with breathtaking views of the Himalayan range, winding through dense forests and past cascading waterfalls.
