JAMMU AND KASHMIR WEATHERSanasar Lake
A hidden gem, Sanasar Lake is located in Jammu's Udhampur district, amidst rolling hills. This peaceful lake, encircled by lush vegetation, provides a peaceful haven. It is located on national highway 1A, 20 kilometres west of Patnitop, and is named after the small local lakes "Sana" and "Sar". The lake is 2,050 metres above sea level. Given that Sanasar Lake is thought to have been the setting for ancient Hindu mythology, it has cultural significance. The lake was supposedly formed by Lord Shiva's arrow, known as San, which is why it got the name "Sanasar." The region is even more spiritually appealing because it is dotted with shrines and temples. In addition to its fabled beginnings, Sanasar Lake is incredibly beautiful. The surrounding lush hills are reflected in the lake's glistening waters, creating a picturesque scene that enthrals tourists. Towering pine trees adorn the area surrounding the lake, contributing to its picturesque appeal. The Shanta Ridge is a nearby mountain range. Situated a few hours' walk from Sanasar, at the pinnacle of the Shank Pal ridge at 2,800 metres, is the Shank Pal Temple. Nag Shank Pal is the patron of the 400-year-old temple. The temple's stones were not joined with mortar. Sanasar is frequently referred to as the "Mini Gulmarg" because of how similar it is to the well-known hill station. Sanasar, in contrast to Gulmarg, is still largely unexplored, which makes it a great place for people looking for seclusion and tranquillity in the middle of the wilderness. Whatever your interests—nature, history, or just a peaceful retreat—Sanasar Lake has something to offer everyone. So gather your belongings and set out to discover this undiscovered paradise in the centre of Jammu.
