Explore the picturesque Bungus Valley, a hidden gem awaiting discovery, hidden amidst Kashmir's breathtaking landscapes. Nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike will find paradise in this valley, which offers magnificent views. Bangus is a unique ecological combination found in the Trans-Himalayan region. It consists of a Taiga or coniferous forest and a mountain biome that includes a grassland biome with lower altitude flora. The valley is located in the northern portion of district Kupwara within the Handwara sub District and is approximately 10,000 feet above sea level. The main valley, referred to as Bodh Bangus (Big Bangus) locally, is estimated to be 300 sq km (20 x 15 km) and is composed of a linear elliptical bowl that is oriented east-west. On the northeastern edge of the larger valley is a smaller one called Lokut Bangus, or Small Bangus. Level green meadows with a stream running through them are found in both valleys, which are encircled by low-lying mountains covered in dense Coniferous forests (budloo). Bungus Valley offers a variety of outdoor activities for adventure enthusiasts, including trekking, camping, trout fishing, and bird watching. The valley is a paradise for nature lovers and adrenaline junkies seeking adventure and discovery.
