At a distance of 1.7 km from the main town of Bhaderwah, lies the ancient Lord Shiva temple. In the temple, one finds the mysterious water falling on Shiv Lingam. Since Ganga originates from the matted hair of Shiva, the mysterious water flowing here is referred to as Gupta Ganga, as no one knows the source of this water body. The inside water flows down and takes the shape of Bowli (Stepwell). People take a dip in this holy water with the faith of taking off their sins. The water of the Gupta Ganga is warm in winter and cold in summer. One finds a tunnel at this place and it is believed that the tunnel is connected to Srinagar. It also believed that Pandavas during their exile Agyatvas stayed at this place and using this tunnel they left Bhaderwah.
