A monument to the area's rich historical heritage, Bhaderwah Fort is tucked away amid the picturesque surroundings of Jammu's Doda district. Bhaderwah Fort, also called Qilla or Ratangarh Fort, is a historically and culturally significant site in Bhaderwah, India. Perched atop a small hill, the fort was constructed in 1733 by Maharaja Pahar Chand and provides sweeping views of the town and Bhaderwah Valley. The fort is divided into two sections: a lower section with a rampart and four octagonal towers, and an upper section with two tower blocks. It is accessible to tourists and takes 15 minutes to drive or 20 minutes to walk from the city centre. While some claim the site is stunning and the views are captivating, others claim the fort has amazing architecture but needs maintenance. Even now, as guests stroll through its halls, they are struck by the building's overwhelming grandeur. Bhaderwah Fort provides a genuinely immersive experience, from the mesmerising views of the surroundings to the soft winds that seem to carry ghosts of the past.
