Situated at an elevation of 2,024 metres (6,640 ft.), the quaint hill town of Patnitop is located in Jammu's Udhampur district, amidst breathtaking scenery. Adventure seekers and lovers of the natural world will both find paradise at this charming location. Trekking Opportunities abound in Patnitop's lush wooded pine forest. Patnitop is situated near the Pir Panjal range in the Lower Himalayan Range. The original name "Patan Da Talab," which translates to "Pond of the Princess," was twisted to become the name Patnitop. The name is derived from the legend that a princess from the ruling kingdom once took a daily bath in a pond located in the meadows of the area. Near the youth hostel, a portion of the pond still exists. The region's kings used to use the area as a royal retreat because of its temperate climate and serene surroundings. The Dogra King Raja Dhruv took control of the town in 1730 AD, and his reign had a significant impact on the region's cultural legacy. As a result of British administrators and officers travelling there to avoid the Indian plains' heat during the colonial era, Patnitop started to grow in popularity as a tourist destination. Some of the guesthouses and bungalows in the colonial style that they left behind are still in operation today. There are lots of thrilling things to do in Patnitop for those looking for adventure. There are plenty of exciting things to do in this place, like paragliding over lush valleys and hiking through rough paths. With its heart-pounding slopes and stunning views of the surrounding mountains, the well-known Nathatop is a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
