Samba is rightly called the treasure trove of historical sites, with some prominent forts like Samba Fort, Mohargarh Fort, Dhergarh Fort, and Bhupnergarh Fort. Samba Fort is a historical treasure that bears witness to the rich legacy of the area. It is situated in Jammu's Samba district. Historians claim that the fort was first built in the third to fourteenth century by the Mandi Raja. Naga Raja Goureoen (1679–1684) constructed this fort. On the remnants of the old fort, Ranjit Singh erected the Samba fort in 1822. Because of its strategic locations, the fort was handed over to Raja Suchet Singh, brother of Maharaja Gulab Singh. The fort, which is perched on a hill and provides a broad perspective of the surroundings, is a must-see location for both history buffs and environmentalists. Samba Fort's advantageous location is just one of its intriguing features. To keep an eye out for and repel any incursions, the fort was constructed on a high point. The royal family could also enjoy a tranquil getaway from the bustle of the city from this vantage point. Today, guests can ascend the fort's summit to take in the breath-taking vistas of the verdant fields and the tranquil surroundings that go on forever. The people of Samba asked Maharaja Partap Singh to give this fort to the Department of Education in 1905 so that it could be used as a school. Thus making this school the oldest in the area.
