Situated in Jammu's Kathua district, Jasrota Fort is an intriguing historical site that embodies the spirit of the area's illustrious past. The Jasrotia Rajputs had their capital at Jasrota Fort in the Shivalik Hills of the Western Himalayas. Jas Dev, the founder and head of the Jammu and Kashmir Royal House, gave it to his brother Karan. The fortified town is now abandoned, but on its outskirts there is still a thriving village with the same name. Another noteworthy fact about Jasrota Fort is that, fortunately, the garden known as Rajbagh, or the King's Garden, is still there on the plateau. With a wide variety of trees and an abundance of greenery, the plateau is rich in flora and fauna and is home to numerous wildlife species. The two main entry points to the double-storied palaces and main fort are Dilli Darwaza and Gumat Darwaza. The fort's appeal is increased by its expansive view of the surrounding countryside, which comes from its hilltop location. Its sturdy walls and historic buildings capture the grandeur of a bygone era and allow guests to picture the vibrant life that once flourished within its walls centuries ago. Massive gates, strong ramparts, and a number of structures that were formerly used for administrative offices and royal residences are among the architectural features of the fort. The fort is surrounded by lush greenery and has historical significance, making it an ideal location for both history buffs and nature lovers. The varied flora and fauna in the fort's environs provide a tranquil haven from the bustle of the city. Jasrota Fort is a well-liked tourist attraction for those who enjoy history today. It serves as a reminder of the tenacity and grandeur of the area's previous rulers as well as a window into its rich cultural past. Jasrota Fort is a must-see site in the Kathua district because it feels like travelling back in time and because every stone and building has a story to tell.
