An approximate four to five hour ride from Kathua district will take the tourists to explore one of the most virgin destinations, that is Bani. Situated amidst towering mountains at an elevation of 4,200 feet, lies this petite glacial valley. Along the "SEWA"river, Town Bani thrives. It serves as the trekkers' base camp for places like Bhaderwah. Bani is characterised by meadows, gushing streams, waterfalls, and dense forest patches. Not far from Bani are the enthralling and revitalising meadows of Dhagger, Roulka, Doulka, Sarthal, Chattergala, Banjal, and Duggan. It is just 32 kms away from Sarthal thus providing an easy two destination trip. When ardent tourists visit these locations, they find themselves surrounded by pure nature and away from pollution. While there is currently no lodging available, visitors travel from Bani to Dhagger in the morning and return to Bani in the late evening. Shakti Mata Shrine in Bani, Jodian Wali Mata near Banjal, Dolay Wali Mata near Dhagger , Dhajji Mata Shrine on Bani-Sarthal road near Chandel are places deeply revered by the people of Bani. It is impossible to discuss Bani without bringing up its rich cultural history. The place is rightfully known as the land of folklore and festivals. The town is home to a thriving community that takes great pride in celebrating festivals. One of the most important attractions of Bani is the three day Shinj Mela which is celebrated every year in the last week of June. The mela includes a cultural program that includes songs from Himachali folklore, Dogri geetdu, and nukkad natak, as well as local dance and folklore.
