Sacred Shiv Khori, a place rich in mythology and spiritual significance, is tucked away in Jammu's Reasi district. This alluring location is well-known for its breathtaking natural beauty and extensive historical background. In the cave, there is a four-foot-tall naturally formed lingam that is revered and thought to be swayambhu, or self-manifested. Legend has it that the cave is devoted to Lord Shiva's invisible, unborn form. The 3-kilometer trek to the cave is somewhat difficult and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and lush vegetation. The Bull God Nandi, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya, and Sheshnag are all honored by additional naturally occurring rock formations within the cave. There are about 33 crore deities in this cave, according to legend. Another legend claims that a demon by the name of Bhasmasura devoted a great deal of time to in-depth meditation on Lord Shiva thousands of years ago. Over time, it is said that Bhasmasura gained the ability to grant anyone the ability to end their life by placing his hand on their head by requesting a blessing from the Lord. According to legend, Lord Shiva created this cave with his trishul, or trident, to elude the demon Bhasmasura, who was pursuing him. He lived here for a while with Nandi and the goddess Parvati. To ask for blessings and divine intervention in their lives, visitors to Shiv Khori can participate in rituals like aarti, which involves offering prayers with lit lamps, and abhishekam, which involves bathing the deity ceremoniously. Hymn chants and the aroma of burning incense fill the air, fostering a calm environment that is ideal for reflection and spiritual renewal.
